What a start! … way to go

Well…well..well…it was a nice way to end the weekend.  India started its rally in world cup by thrashing its arch rival 4 – 1.

Fingers crossed, I switched on the television to watch the much awaited encounter between the two teams. Indian team worked like a well oiled machine with good co-ordination and well planned attack. I was initially surprised to find Srijesh safeguarding the goal instead of Adrian. But then Srijesh also came on top with defending the goal post.

However the coordination inside Pakistan area was the one to cherish the most. penalty corner expert Sandeep Singh was at his best. Though he missed the first PC due to rotation, he made good with other penalty corners, striking the board twice. the one PC missed was converted by Shivendra immediately. It presented the preparedness and poise by the team. as soon as the game resumed after the helf time, Prabhjyot came out with a stunner. His presence of mind ensures an unassailable lead to India, converting half a chance to a score.

At the end it was indian Camp smiling on its way back.

But it is just the beginning. There are six more matched to be played and I hope the freshness, networking and attitude shown by the team on field in the first game continues to haunt its opponent throughout the tournament.
